For many years, the Edenton Historical Commission has worked with the congregation of the Kadesh AME Zion Church in Edenton to restore their historic (and beautiful) church. After damage incurred during Hurricane Isabel, the church became uninhabitable. The gorgeous stained glass windows were removed and stored, and the congregation began meeting elsewhere. We are excited to announce that this project has recently gained a great deal of traction, and work has begun! Last week, Architect David Maurer and his team visited the site to begin determining the scope of work. Donations have begun coming in, and we are applying for grants to help with the estimated million dollar plus renovation.
